The Phenomenon of Italy

Hello everyone on the first post on this blog which will focus on Italian culture, art and language. Through this website, I would like to share information that I learned from philological studies, travels to the Apennine Peninsula and what fascinates me personally in Italy.

I would like to start by reflecting on the phenomenon of this country. For a long time, I was wondering why I chose italian studies, although I would like to learn other languages as well. In Europe, including Poland, we can notice a special sympathy for this corner of the world. Why is this happening?

As an example, will serve me antoher Mediterranean country, Greece. Just like Italy, has a long history, or even longer, because it was ancient Athens that was the model for Rome, for example in the case of art and religion. Both countries are known for their smiling and friendly locals, delicious food, wonderful views and extraordinary historical monuments. There are many greek companies in Poland, and every major polish university offers philology classical, which makes it possible to learn the greek language and culture. However, I can even risk saying that the greek language and culture isn't so known to a wider group and doesn't arouse so strong emotions. Comparing these two countries, I distinguished several factors that determine the privileged position of the Italy.

Language

The opinion that the Italian language is simple is very common. In fact, learning a basic knowledge of the language isn't difficult and gives a lot of satisfaction, because the italian is very melody and expressive.

Art

Italy is the place of the highest art. Here the most important artists in history created and some of the most important museums are located. That's because here people love and cherish beauty. Especially when it comes to art, are very proud of their heritage. In addition, also the great italian cinema, opera and fashion are known all over the world.

Vatican

It is not without significance that the Vatican is located in Italy - the headquarters of the Catholic Church, which had a huge impact on the situation of today's Europe. Annually, 6 million visitors come here.

Dolce vita

The Italian dolce vita is extremely attractive. I think it's not just an empty slogan or a stereotype. Italians implement this philosophy by celebrating short moments and activities like morning espresso at the bar, feasting together at the table, evening meetings with friends with the wine or aperol. Dolce vita is openness, mindfulness, sociability and understanding that some things cannot be rushed.

Diversity

Italy is a very diverse country. Here modernity meets wild nature. Each region has a different history, food, dialect and views, as well as the mountains in the north, and hot Sicily or Sardinia in the south. No matter which part of the country we choose to visit, it will be a journey full of amazing discoveries.
